Trace one voice at a time.
For A-to-B, the relevant endpoints are A's microphone and B's listening device. B hearing A does not prove that A can hear B. Keep the two directions separate as you change settings.
Use the illustrated two-way phrase check to run the test together. One successful direction does not check both microphones.
Use the announced radio feedback as context.
In a developer interview, Martin Mittner described a waveform on the walkie-talkie display when a partner speaks, and an X when their transmission cuts out. He also described nearby voice switching from the walkie-talkie to proximity communication when the players get close.
Developer-described feedback that your partner is speaking.
Developer-described feedback when the transmission cuts out.
Proximity communication can change how the conversation is heard.
These cues help describe a symptom to your partner or support. They do not identify every possible cause, and this guide does not assign an unverified radio key or settings-menu name.
Choose the sound symptom you actually have.
I cannot hear my partner.
Check your listening output and volume first, then ask your partner to check their microphone and mute state. If you have more than one output connected, make sure you are listening through the one you intend to use.
My partner cannot hear me.
Check the selected input, hardware mute and your system's microphone permission. Use an ordinary system microphone test to see whether input is detected, then repeat the A-to-B phrase in the intended voice channel.
Ordinary voice works, but the game conversation stops.
Keep the device test result separate from the game signal. Note whether the issue depends on distance or whether the developer-described radio feedback changes. A shared school or public network may restrict voice traffic; check its rules or use a permitted personal connection.
We hear echo or two versions of the conversation.
As a general audio check, agree which voice channel you are using and avoid speaking through two active channels at once. Headphones can help keep speaker output out of the microphone. This is a general recommendation, not a confirmed game-specific echo fix.
The system input/output checks are general OS troubleshooting. They are not presented as a tested sequence of Tomorrow menus.
Change one thing, then swap the speaker.
After each change, repeat the same short phrase in both directions. If the issue returns only in the game, note the platform pair, whether you are on the Demo or full release, the symptom and any visible feedback before contacting official game support.
If you are hearing one another clearly but still misunderstanding the puzzle, switch to the description and confirmation loop. A communication problem can remain after the audio path is working.
